'Sweet Caroline' filming wrapped!
Large scale set using painted foam board
Using the time during lockdown to source materials to use for large scale sets ended with a simple yet effective way of creating the big station, which is heavily featured in this episode.
I spent several days filming on sets that were fortunately convincing enough when in camera. The steam effects were all in camera too, much to my delight! Initially I was going to be waving a boiling kettle from underneath the camera, however I realised my clothes steamer would be more effective.
I would wait until late to film the remaining shots in my bedroom using only a lamp as a light source. This seemed to do the trick, as most of the big station scenes are set at dusk. This helped marry the shots up with the model railway scenes of Thomas, Stepney and the bigger engines.
