Progression on large scale Thomas models
The Fat Controller / Lady Hatt / Mrs Kyndley work in progress models
What has been extremely satisfying with this project is creating as much detail as possible in every single shot. Owen and I didn't want to cut corners on the visual look of the episode, and I certainly wanted to push for a bold comeback to another of my Thomas stories.
The large scale figures are essential to the classic series look, as these distinctive Victorian style humans are so suiting to the general look of the episodes.

These figures were made from Milliput, which is a two part putty mix, which solidifies to state where it can be sanded and further refined once set. This was the perfect material to use for these close up models. Those famillar with my previous work will know that I would use plasticine for my former projects.
Fortunately a good friend of mine Tom Jedski now owns the head of Mrs Kyndley from the television series and because she was indefinitely going to be a driving force for this story, I wanted to ensure she looked like her TV series counterpart.
I'm very honoured to have had the opportunity to actually see the head used for Mrs Kyndley in person, and so sculpting and painting her accurately was made far easier.
